Choosing a floor lamp
A floor lamp adds light at a height where you need it most: beside a sofa, behind an armchair or in a corner that ceiling lights miss. Uplighters bounce light off the ceiling for a soft, even glow across the room, while reading lamps direct light downward onto a page.
Measure the space first, and keep the base clear of walkways. In a majlis or large living room, two floor lamps placed in opposite corners often feel calmer than one bright overhead light.
