How to choose a table lamp
A table lamp does two jobs: it lights the space around it and it becomes part of the room’s décor. Consider where it will sit. Bedside lamps work best when the light falls below eye level as you lie down, while console and side-table lamps can be taller and more sculptural.
Dimmable and touch-controlled lamps make it easy to move from reading light to a soft evening glow. Warm light suits bedrooms and living spaces, and flatters skin, fabrics and wood.
Consider scale too: a lamp roughly a third of the height of the furniture it sits on usually looks balanced. Group two matching lamps for symmetry on a console, or mix shapes on a sideboard for a more collected feel.
